There is no such thing as “how much glucose tolerance should you take insulin for”. For type 1 diabetes and gestational diabetes, insulin treatment is generally considered, but for type 2 diabetes, oral hypoglycemic drugs can be chosen for treatment. Glucose tolerance generally refers to the oral glucose tolerance test, if the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus is confirmed after the test, it is necessary to use medication under the guidance of a doctor, along with dietary management and exercise therapy. Type 1 diabetes is caused by absolute lack of insulin due to destruction of pancreatic islet B cells, and insulin treatment is usually considered instead of oral hypoglycemic drugs; whereas type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance or relative lack of insulin secretion, and oral hypoglycemic drugs can be taken as the treatment, and if oral hypoglycemic drugs can not control the blood glucose well, insulin treatment can be considered. In case of abnormal blood glucose values, it is recommended to go to the hospital and ask the doctor to determine whether insulin treatment is needed.
