How to measure ambulatory blood pressure

Ambulatory blood pressure measurement starts with choosing the arm, then taping, starting the device, and finally observing the values. 1. Choose the arm to monitor the blood pressure: usually patients who habitually use their right hand monitor the left side, and patients who habitually use their left hand monitor the right side. If there is a big difference between the two sides of the patient’s blood pressure, it is recommended to monitor the side with the higher blood pressure, otherwise it may cause the patient to have high blood pressure. 2. Tying the cuff: the lower edge of the cuff should be 1-2cm from the elbow socket. At the same time, the cuff should be tightened to the extent that two fingers can be inserted into it, at which point the tightness is appropriate. 3. Starting the instrument: Measurements are taken at intervals set by the doctor. Usually 20 minutes/measurement during the day and 30 minutes/measurement at night. 4. Observe the value: After 24 hours of testing, the doctor will process and calculate the data on the computer to determine the value. How the ambulatory blood pressure is measured is still to be implemented by the healthcare professionals, and theirs shall prevail.
