Our hospital introduced OMOM capsule endoscope produced by Chongqing Jinshan Company in June 2012, which is mainly applicable to the diagnosis of digestive diseases such as unexplained abdominal pain, diarrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding, small intestinal tumor and Crohn’s disease, as well as medical examination for those whose economic conditions permit.
I. Advantages of capsule endoscopy.
(1) Easy to operate: the whole examination is only three processes: swallowing the capsule, recording and playback observation. Doctors only need to play back the process of observation, through the pictures taken to make an accurate judgment of the condition.
(2) Safety and hygiene: the capsule is disposable, avoiding cross-infection, and the examination process is painless and non-invasive; its shell is made of medical polymer material that cannot be corroded by digestive fluid, which is non-toxic and non-irritating to human body and can be safely discharged from the body.
(3) Expanded field of view: true color images of the whole small intestine segment are clear and microscopic, breaking through the blind spot of small intestine examination and greatly improving the diagnosis and detection rate of gastrointestinal diseases.
(4) Convenient and comfortable: patients do not need anesthesia, do not need hospitalization, freedom of movement, without delaying normal work and life. (Just be careful not to engage in heavy physical labor and strenuous exercise on the day of examination).
