Colla Corii Asini is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, which is made from the skin of donkeys of the family Equidae by soaking and removing the hair. It has the effect of tonifying blood, nourishing yin, moistening the lungs and stopping bleeding. It is used for treating dizziness and palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), restlessness and insomnia, dryness of the lungs and coughing, vomiting and urinating blood, and fetal leakage in pregnancy (a small amount of vaginal bleeding that occurs early in pregnancy). Its adverse reactions, contraindications, precautions are not yet clear.
Clinically, it is used in combination with Aristolochia, burdock and almond for lung-heat and yin deficiency, dry throat; in combination with mulberry leaf, almond and maitake for dryness that injures the lungs, heartburn and thirst; and in combination with Rhizoma Coptidis and Paeonia lactiflora for heat illness that injures the yin, heartburn and insomnia.
From the contraindications and efficacy of this product, Colla Corii Asini can nourish blood and nourish yin, and is not a contraindication for women after menstruation, and Colla Corii Asini can be taken after menstruation within the scope of indications.
