It can be used in treating deficiency of qi and blood, post ulceration evidence of carbuncle and gangrene (a kind of poisonous sore, which is an acute suppurative disease that occurs on the surface of the body, limbs and internal organs), symptoms of which include ulceration and pain, carbuncle and gangrene on the back, and post ulceration deficiency with little qi. It should not be used when the poison is not yet exhausted even though there is deficiency of qi and blood after ulceration, and it is forbidden to use it in the early stage of ulcers and pus-forming stage when the heat and poison are still in full bloom.
