When is the best time to have a bowel movement

Everyone’s bowel habits are not exactly the same and there is no best time to have a bowel movement. Generally speaking, it is better to have a bowel movement one to two hours before breakfast, i.e., 6:00 am to 7:00 am. The human body needs to consume a large amount of food every day to maintain metabolic needs such as work and exercise. After overnight digestion and absorption, food residue is usually stored in the sigmoid colon. When the volume of stool is large enough, it can stimulate the rectum to produce a bowel reflex. There is no specific optimal time for defecation. However, it is usually believed that defecation one to two hours before breakfast can empty the intestines and promote appetite, as well as prevent metabolic waste and water absorption leading to constipation, inflammation and other hazards. For good health, you can eat more fruits and vegetables, exercise properly, and ensure good bowel habits.
