Causes of high hematocrit

High erythrocyte ratio can be divided into physiologic and pathologic, as follows. 1. Physiological: it is mainly seen in the residents of plateau area, due to long-term hypoxia, the red blood cell compensatory increase, there will be a high erythrocyte specific volume. 2. Pathologic: such as patients with true erythrocytosis, the erythrocyte ratio product will appear abnormally high. Chronic bronchitis asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congenital cyanosis heart disease, etc., due to long-term hypoxia, the body of erythropoietin concentration increases, the red blood cell is obviously high. Vomiting and diarrhea lead to fluid loss and blood concentration, and the erythrocyte ratio will increase accordingly. It is recommended that the cause of the high hematocrit be further investigated. Measurement of the hematocrit can be used to understand the degree of blood concentration and as a reference indicator for fluid replacement. Specific diagnosis and treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a physician.
