Hormones are not to be used

Since inflammatory and immunologic diseases account for the majority of dermatologic diseases, glucocorticoids are widely used in dermatology. In the clinical practice of dermatology, inappropriate application of hormones is also very common, mainly manifested in two extremes: “abuse” and “non-use”. “Abuse” is manifested by improper selection of indications and improper dosage or course of treatment, resulting in unnecessary side effects; “non-use” is manifested by excessive worry about the side effects of hormones and fear of using hormones, resulting in the delay of disease treatment. This leads to delayed treatment. Many patients are misguided and have a lot of concerns about the hormone advice of the doctors they see, and their attention is focused on the side effects of hormones, ignoring the fact that hormones are also a powerful weapon to cure diseases and save lives. For these patients, it not only makes the treatment more difficult for doctors but also prolongs the course of the disease, which is really more than worth the loss. Therefore, the attitude towards hormones should be: scientific use, reasonable use, use as needed, and no abuse.
