There are no definitive studies showing that mattresses cause leukemia.
The causative factors of leukemia that have been clearly identified are:
1. Radiation: the chance of a normal person suffering from leukemia is about 1/25,000, but residents who have been within one kilometer of an atomic bomb blast circle have a high chance of suffering from leukemia in a few years, about 1/20. In addition, pregnant women receive abdominal X-irradiation, newborns also have a higher rate of disease.
2. Chemical agents: Workers who have been exposed to organic benzene for a long time, or patients who have received chemical treatment with alkylating agents have a higher chance of developing leukemia than normal people.
3. Heredity or gene mutation: Congenital chromosomal abnormalities, such as Bruhn’s syndrome and other congenital diseases may induce leukemia.
4. Autoimmune diseases: autoimmune defects may be associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
5. Viral infections: Human pro-T-cell viruses are known to cause adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma.
In summary, mattresses do not cause leukemia if they do not contain disease-causing chemicals.
