What’s wrong with the empty butterfly saddle?

Empty butterfly saddle is a hypothalamic pituitary-related disorder, which refers to an abnormality of the pituitary rim that may result in decreased pituitary function. Clinical symptoms of empty pyriform saddle may appear as headaches, or visual field defects, hyperprolactinemia, and hypothyroidism. Empty pteronyssinus is usually caused by a large congenital hole, so that the subarachnoid hernia squeezes the pituitary tissue and occupies the pteronyssinus, or endocrine abnormalities in the body cause the pituitary tissue to become swollen. If the diagnosis is confirmed to be empty pterygoid, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s advice and carry out standardized treatment as soon as possible in order to reduce the adverse effects brought by the disease to the patients.
