Weight loss surgery classification

Bariatric surgery, also known as obesity surgery, focuses on weight control by controlling stomach volume. Evidence has confirmed that bariatric surgery is safe, effective, and resistant to rebound, and can even cure type II diabetes and improve heart disease symptoms. The first is adjustable gastric banding (AGB), which is commonly referred to as a “bandage” around the stomach to hold the stomach by the “throat”; the second is gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass), which is the procedure used in this case. The third type of sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), which removes the major part of the stomach, and the fourth type of biliopancreaticoduodenal switch (BPD-DS), which combines VSG and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass to remove most of the stomach and connect it to the distal small intestine.
