If kidney disease is suspected, a negative urine protein also requires a 24-hour urine protein quantification.
A urine protein test is a measurement of the amount of protein in a single urine. The possibility exists that the urine is negative for protein but has proteinuria, so to rule out proteinuria, a 24-hour urine protein quantification test is needed.
For urine protein quantification, proteinuria is diagnosed if the 24-hour urine protein is greater than 150mg. Greater than 3.5g is diagnosed as massive proteinuria. Proteinuria is common in nephritic syndrome, nephrotic syndrome, physiologic proteinuria, and asymptomatic proteinuria.
For those with negative urine protein, 24-hour urine protein quantification should be added if renal disease is suspected. If the diagnosis is proteinuria, you should go to the hospital in time and be treated under the guidance of the doctor.
