The guideline states that puncture biopsy should be considered for thyroid nodules >1cm in diameter with signs of malignancy on ultrasound. For thyroid nodules with a diameter of ≤1cm, puncture biopsy is not routinely recommended. However, ultrasound-guided puncture biopsy may be considered if one of the following conditions exists: (1) Ultrasound examination suggests that the nodule has malignant signs. (2) With abnormal ultrasound images of the lymph nodes in the neck. A history of radiation exposure to the neck or exposure to radiation contamination during childhood. Family history of thyroid cancer or history of thyroid cancer syndrome. ⑤ Positive fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography imaging. ⑥ With abnormally elevated serum calcitonin levels. Patients with thyroid nodules should consult a medical professional for diagnosis and treatment.
