Adverse consequences of abdominal lipoma

The main adverse effect of abdominal lipoma is the slow enlargement of the tumor, which causes local discomfort and even mild distension and pain. As a very common benign tumor on the body surface, the exact cause of abdominal lipoma is not known so far, and there is no evidence of correlation with high-fat or low-fat diets, so the growth of fat cannot be controlled by high-fat or low-fat diets. In addition, there are no drugs that can make lipomas shrink or disappear. Moreover, lipomas usually have an intact envelope and their components are mature fat cells, which usually have no clinical possibility of malignant transformation. Therefore, lipomas in the abdomen do not need to be treated if they are small and asymptomatic. Since the greatest adverse effect is the local discomfort or pain caused by the slow increase of lipomas, local anesthesia can be considered for complete removal when pain or discomfort occurs, so as to achieve the purpose of cure.
