How to treat dilated intrahepatic bile ducts

Dilatation of intrahepatic bile ducts, suggestive of symptoms of bile duct obstruction, may be bile duct stones, which require medication and surgery; tumor compression, which requires surgery; parasite blockage, which is treated with medication; and congenital dilatation of bile ducts, which also requires surgery. 1. Bile duct stones, such as intrahepatic bile duct stones and common bile duct stones, can be treated with cephalosporins (e.g. cefoperazone, etc.) to fight infection if the symptoms are mild or combined with infection. And surgical treatment should be taken, such as endoscopic stone removal, choledochotomy and stone removal. 2. Tumor compression, such as tumor of common hepatic duct, tumor of common bile duct, tumor of pancreatic head, all of them may compress the bile duct and cause dilatation, which need to be operated as early as possible according to the specific conditions of the tumor, and radiotherapy and chemotherapy should be carried out according to the pathology after the operation. 3. Parasitic infection, such as Schistosoma hepaticum infection, blocking the intrahepatic bile ducts, can also cause dilatation, and should be treated with oral albendazole. 4. Congenital bile duct dilatation, which requires surgical treatment to improve the symptoms of bile duct obstruction. If dilated intrahepatic bile ducts are found, you need to go to the hospital to confirm which type of disease you are diagnosed with before treatment, and follow the doctor’s instructions for medication.
