The gallbladder is located in the abdominal cavity, at the lower edge of the ribs in the right upper abdomen, behind the liver in the fossa of the gallbladder, in the shape of a pear, most of which is covered by the liver, and the body marking is the midpoint below the right costal margin.
Normally the gallbladder is not palpable, when it becomes enlarged due to various causes, it will be palpable under the right costal margin, and the abdominal pain will increase on pressure during deep inspiration, i.e., Murphy’s sign is positive.
The adjacency of the gallbladder is: the liver above the gallbladder, the duodenum and transverse colon below, the pylorus on the left, and the colon on the right.
The gallbladder belongs to the organs of the digestive system and has the function of concentrating, storing, and excreting bile, and the excretion of bile into the duodenum can promote fat digestion and absorption.
