How are periprosthetic fractures staged?

Periprosthetic fractures can be divided into three types, A, B and C, as follows: I. Type A refers mainly to fractures in the size of the trochanter site. II. Type B refers to the fracture at the femoral stalk location. Type B can also be subdivided into three subtypes, including: 1. Type B1 refers to the fracture at the prosthetic stalk site, but the prosthesis is stable and no loosening occurs; 2. Type B2 refers to the fracture at the prosthetic stalk site, accompanied by loosening of the prosthesis; 3. Type B3 refers to the fracture at the prosthetic stalk site, although the prosthesis has loosened, but at the same time, the amount of bone around the prosthesis also reduction, which suggests instability of the prosthesis. 3. Type C refers to a fracture below the femoral stalk, and this type of fracture occurs mostly in the supracondylar fracture of the femur.
