Precautions after splint fixation

Chinese medicine has a long history of fracture rectification splint fixation, and the treatment of limb fractures and joint dislocations through manual repositioning and splint fixation has the advantages of strong permeability, safety and simplicity, and few complications. However, during treatment, the following points should be noted: 1. Elevate the affected limb to facilitate venous and lymphatic reflux and reduce the swelling of the limb. 2. Closely observe the blood flow of the injured limb, especially the skin color, temperature, sensation, and degree of swelling of the limb end should be observed within 3-4 days after fixation. If you find swelling, pain, temperature drop, purple color, extension and flexion activities with severe pain, you should promptly deal with it. Do not mistake the pain caused by fracture, otherwise there is a risk of ischemic necrosis. 3.Pay attention to asking whether there is burning pain at the protruding bones. If the patient has persistent pain, the splint should be released for examination to prevent the occurrence of pressure ulcers. 4, pay attention to the frequent adjustment of the tie tightness, generally within 4 days, due to the reset secondary injury, local injury inflammatory reaction, splint fixation after the venous reflux is blocked, the pressure within the tissue gap has a tendency to rise, the tie can be properly relaxed. Later, the pressure in the tissue gap decreases, the blood circulation is badly improved, and the ligature should be adjusted in time when the ligature is relaxed to keep the normal mobility of 1cm. 5.Regular X-ray examination should be performed to know whether the fracture is displaced, especially within 2 weeks, and if there is displacement, it should be dealt with in time. 6.Prevent the fracture from re-displacing, protect the affected limb after the injury to prevent the fracture from re-displacing due to external collision or other reasons. 7.Guide the patient to carry out reasonable functional exercises, and explain clearly to the patient and family members the precautions and practice methods after fixation, and obtain the cooperation of the patient in order to achieve good treatment results. 8.The splint should be fixed in the appropriate position, and the position of the splint should not be changed without the doctor’s consent. 9.Follow the doctor’s order to fix the splint for the appropriate time, and do not remove the splint without permission. 10.If the skin itches inside the splint, do not use hard objects such as bamboo chopsticks or wooden sticks to probe into the splint to avoid irritating the skin and causing skin ulcers, and seek medical help in time. 11.During the period of splint external fixation, regular outpatient follow-up, photo review and functional exercise should be carried out in accordance with medical advice.
