Nucleic acid test reagents do not detect novel coronaviruses per se, but are reagents and consumables for detecting novel coronaviruses. Nucleic acid testing reagents are commonly used to detect novel coronavirus nucleic acid. The methodological steps are mainly through the collection of patients’ throat swabs, nasal swabs or respiratory secretions, etc. as specimens, and then testing for the presence of the pathogens of novel coronaviruses, so the essence is to detect the strength of fluorescent signals in order to determine whether or not the virus is contained in the samples. Diagnosis of novel coronavirus infection can only be confirmed by combining the patient’s relevant imaging, epidemiologic history and clinical manifestations in addition to nucleic acid testing.
