Is sputum in the lungs tuberculosis?

Sputum in the lungs is not necessarily tuberculosis, although tuberculosis may also cause coughing and sputum. In addition to coughing and sputum, tuberculosis may also cause low fever in the afternoon, emaciation, hemoptysis, loss of appetite, night sweats, and irregular menstruation in women of childbearing age. The fever in TB is characteristic, usually in the afternoon, and the temperature drops to normal the next morning. For tuberculosis, a CT of the lung can be done first. CT mostly shows lesions in the apical segment of the upper lobe, the posterior basal segment, and multiple lesions at the same time, showing proliferation, calcification, infiltration, and so on. Sputum finding acid-resistant bacilli is the gold standard for the diagnosis of tuberculosis, and once the diagnosis of tuberculosis is made, early and regular anti-tuberculosis treatment is recommended.
