There are seven main possibilities for total chest pain: first, heart disease, such as coronary heart disease or myocardial infarction, manifested as pain in the precordial region and may be accompanied by posterior back radiating pain. Second, digestive system diseases, such as gastroduodenal ulcer or gastroesophageal reflux, manifested as pain behind the sternum and accompanied by belching and nausea discomfort. Third, chest wall diseases, such as chest trauma or costochondritis, the pain level is mostly related to deep breathing and coughing. Fourthly, malignant tumor of the lung, manifesting as vague pain in the chest and may be accompanied by coughing up blood and irritating cough. Fifthly, breast cancer, which is characterized by stabbing pain in the breast, and in the advanced stage, orange peel sign or dimple sign may appear. Sixth, cystic hyperplasia of the breast, which is characterized by breast swelling and pain with nodular changes, and the degree of pain is related to the menstrual cycle. Seventh, acute mastitis, mostly seen in lactating women, manifests as redness, swelling, heat and pain in the breast, and fluctuating lumps can be palpated in the breast.
