Targeted drugs for gastric cancer



At present, targeted drugs for gastric cancer mainly target HER2, VEGF and PD-1, and the representative drugs include trastuzumab and ramucirumab.

1. Targeting HER2: Trastuzumab and Pembrolizumab are mainly used for treating HER2-positive gastric cancer patients, which account for about 15% of the total gastric cancer patients.

2. Targeting VEGF: including ramucirumab and apatinib mesylate, of which the latter is independently developed in China and has been approved for the third-line or above-third-line treatment of patients with advanced gastric cancer or adenocarcinoma of gastroesophageal conjunction.

3. Targeting PD-1: including nabumab and pembrolizumab, of which nabumab is the first and only immuno-oncology drug approved for the treatment of advanced gastric cancer in China.

Besides, there are other biomarkers that can be used as targets for targeted therapies, and many targeted therapies have already obtained positive results in clinical trials. However, at the same time, targeted drugs for gastric cancer also have certain side effects. According to the research, the common side effects of targeted drugs include rash, diarrhea, abdominal pain, oral mucositis, liver injury, hypertension and so on.

Therefore, in the process of targeted therapy, should be combined with the patient’s specific situation of scientific selection of targeted drugs, pay close attention to, and timely treatment of related side effects, so that in order to play the efficacy of targeted drugs at the same time to alleviate the pain of patients.
