When is the best time to take glargine insulin?

There are no strict rules on the timing of glargine insulin use, and it can be injected at night before bedtime or in the morning, depending on the individual’s situation. Glargine insulin is a long-acting insulin and can be used as basal insulin. Patients can choose to use it at night before going to bed or in the morning. Since it is a long-acting insulin, it can control blood glucose 24 hours a day, but it is clinically recommended to use it at a fixed time. Glycine insulin should not be injected intramuscularly, but subcutaneously at the abdominal wall or deltoid muscle. Glargine insulin is mainly used for type I diabetes, acute and chronic complications of diabetes. In addition, as a long-acting insulin, there is no significant drug peak, so glargine insulin can also be used as a supplemental treatment for patients with poor oral drug effects. Diabetic patients are advised to use the medication according to the clinician’s instruction, and must take the medication on time and not to miss or misuse it.
