Symptoms and Treatment of Intussusception in Children

Childhood intussusception is a common acute abdominal disease in pediatric surgery, mainly occurring in children under two years old. There are three typical symptoms of intussusception in children: 1) paroxysmal crying, the child will have regular bursts of crying, crying for a while and then relieved for a while; 2) vomiting, the child will vomit after crying; 3) bloody stools, jam-like stools, which occurs when the intussusception is already in the advanced stage of the intussusception, the intestinal mucosa due to the pressure of the card leads to necrosis, bleeding, and the formation of jam-like bloody stools. Therefore, when these cases occur, you should consult the doctor in time. If the patient is seen within 48 hours or less, rectification is performed by enema, air enema, or ultrasound water pressure enema. In some children, there is organic intussusception, which may require surgical exploration or an enema before appropriate treatment.
