Rehmannia glutinosa and thatched root boiled together in water to drink has the effect of clearing away heat and fire, generating fluids and quenching thirst, cooling the blood to stop bleeding and clearing away heat and diuresis. But the effect is limited, generally not up to the role of treatment.
Rehmannia glutinosa has the effect of clearing away heat and fire, generating fluids to quench thirst, removing vexation, stopping vomiting, and inducing diuresis. It can be used to treat fever and thirst, gastric fever and vomiting, lung-heat cough, lung carbuncle (lung abscess) and vomiting of pus, and hot shower (burning and stinging pain during urination, accompanied by frequent urination and urgency, and discomfort of pulling in the abdomen) and astringent pain. Caution should be taken if the spleen and stomach are cold.
Maogan, i.e. leucaena leucocephala, has the efficacy of cooling blood, stopping bleeding, clearing heat and diuresis, and clearing heat from the lungs and stomach. It is used in treating hemorrhagic syndromes such as epistaxis (nosebleed), haemoptysis, blood in urine, haemorrhagic gonorrhagia (blood in urine accompanied by pain), gonorrhagic syndromes of heat and toxicity (increase in frequency of urination, dribbling and astringent pain), oedema, jaundice due to dampness-heat, gastric-heat, vomiting and lung-heat coughing and asthma. It is forbidden to be taken by those who have cold spleen and stomach, and who have excessive urination without thirst.
Rehmannia glutinosa and rehmannia glutinosa can relieve lung-heat cough, edema, damp-heat jaundice and other discomforts, but rehmannia glutinosa and rehmannia glutinosa are limited to the effective dose of water, usually can not achieve the therapeutic effect.
If there is any discomfort after drinking rehmannia and mao root together, it is recommended to stop using it and consult a doctor promptly.
