What causes prolonged swelling of the face

The causes of prolonged facial edema may be kidney disease, Cushing’s syndrome, primary aldosteronism, allergy, and so on.
1. Kidney disease, generally refers to various chronic nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, due to decreased excretion of water and sodium by the kidneys leading to water and sodium retention, increased extracellular fluid, triggering long-term edema of the face, which is most serious when waking up in the morning.
2. Cushing’s syndrome, which is caused by increased secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone, and mild edema of the face and lower limbs.
3. Primary aldosteronism, caused by increased secretion of aldosterone and its metabolites, can also cause mild swelling of the face and lower limbs.
4. Allergy: When patients are exposed to dust and other allergens for a long time, allergic reactions occur in the body, which can cause facial edema.
The above are only some of the common causes. If you have long-term facial edema, please go to the hospital as soon as possible to get a clear diagnosis and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
