Hiccups in infants may be caused by physiological reasons such as eating too fast, overfeeding, cold, etc. They may also be caused by pneumonia or gastrointestinal diseases.
1. Physiological reasons: infants eat too fast in daily life, may lead to air into the body, easy to lead to increased abdominal pressure, causing hiccups, or eat too much, the temperature of the milk powder is too low. Infants diaphragm and digestive function is not fully developed, once the stimulation of eating, cold, eating too much can lead to hiccups.
2. Pathologic causes:
(1) Pneumonia: Pneumonia can be caused by bacterial infection in infants. This disease may cause irritation to the peripheral nerves, causing hiccups.
(2) Digestive tract diseases: When the stomach and abdomen are distended, the diaphragm will be pressed, which will lead to spasm of the diaphragm and hiccups.
If it is caused by physiological reasons, it usually does not need special treatment. If it is caused by pathological reasons, the infant should go to the hospital in time after hiccups.
