What is painless gastroscopy?

A painless gastroscopy is a gastroscopy with reduced pain or no pain. A painless gastroscopy is when the patient is put under anesthesia prior to a regular gastroscopy. The doctor will inject a certain amount of anesthetic into the patient and then allow the patient to complete the gastroscopy while drowsy. Since there is no vigorous peristaltic movement of the stomach during the examination, it facilitates a thorough examination.
