Eugenol knowledge (II)

1, taking time: eugenol is usually taken in the morning on an empty stomach, the reason is that taking it after a meal will affect the absorption, and eugenol has the effect of elevating blood sugar, taking it after a meal is more likely to lead to elevated blood sugar. 2, eugenol should be taken alone, more than half an hour after taking the drug to eat, if the patient also need to take calcium, the treatment of high blood pressure drugs at least one hour or more interval. 3, usually benign thyroid disease after surgery to take eugenol dose is small, to achieve the therapeutic goal is to maintain the concentration of thyroxine in the normal level, so do not have to worry about causing side effects. 4.For cancer patients, TSH is usually required to be completely suppressed, i.e., TSH is less than 0.1, and patients’ FT3 and FT4 may be higher than normal, which may have an effect on patients’ cardiovascular system and also cause patients’ osteoporosis (especially for postmenopausal women). Therefore, thyroid cancer patients taking Eugenol should be based on both the condition of the disease and the specific physical conditions of the patient. If the patient is in good physical condition, non-tiny cancer, the dose should be calculated according to 2.11ug/KG, so that the TSH is less than 0.1, which is a complete suppression, and postmenopausal women are required to take additional tablets (Diclofenac 2 tablets once a day, which is actually not a large dose according to the NCCN guideline). If the patient has a microscopic cancer, is less than 45 years of age, or if the elderly patient has cardiovascular disease, then a discretionary reduction in the dosage so that the TSH is less than 0.5 is sufficient. The most crucial thing to regulate TSH value is to review the thyroid function and adjust accordingly according to the specific value. 5, postoperative review at least 6 weeks after taking the drug, because the half-life of eugenol is 1 week, in order to achieve a stable blood concentration, it must be 6 weeks, and after changing the dose, you have to wait for another 6 weeks for review. 6.If the thyroid gland has been completely cut, and nuclear therapy is needed after surgery, you can’t take Eugenol before, and TSH will be suppressed after taking the medicine, which will affect the absorption of iodine.
