What’s the meaning of “little foci of intestinalization”?

Small foci of enterochemistry, also called focal enterochemistry, are commonly seen in pathology reports and refer to the occurrence of limited intestinal epithelial hyperplasia in the gastric mucosa. Enterosis, also called intestinal epithelial hyperplasia, is a phenomenon in which the epithelial cells in the gastric mucosa are replaced by epithelial cells from the small or large intestine, mostly due to the gastric mucosa under the stimulation of inflammation and other factors, in the process of continuous damage and repair. Enterocytosis is mostly found when gastroscopy is performed and biopsies are taken for pathologic diagnosis. Small foci of enterocytosis are defined as only focal changes of intestinal epithelial hyperplasia when viewed under the microscope. Small foci of intestinal metaplasia are often seen in diseases such as atrophic gastritis, and when intestinal metaplasia occurs in the gastric mucosa, its chances of cancerous transformation will increase, and it is a kind of pre-cancerous change of gastric cancer. When patients have small foci of enterosis, it is recommended that they should seek medical treatment in time and receive targeted treatment under the guidance of professional physicians to avoid delaying the condition.
