Artifacts on coronary CTA with normal findings, need for treatment

Artifacts in coronary CTA examination with normal results usually do not require treatment, but it is recommended to review the results again, because artifacts may affect the accuracy of the results, which may cause a misjudgment of the doctor’s clinical diagnosis. Artifacts may occur during the coronary CTA examination due to the patient’s breathing, rapid heartbeat, body movement, etc. In this case, the imaging physician will give a reasonable imaging diagnosis based on the identification of the artifacts. Currently, this examination has become the primary non-invasive and accurate examination method for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, and therefore treatment is usually not required if the examination results are normal and there are no clinical symptoms. Although the accuracy and specificity of coronary CTA is high, the presence of large artifacts in the image may interfere with the doctor’s diagnosis and cause a misjudgment of the clinical diagnosis, in which case it is recommended to repeat the examination to confirm the diagnosis. If the patient also has obvious clinical symptoms, the clinical diagnosis should be combined with electrocardiogram and serum cardiac enzymes. Chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath after activity and other symptoms should be highly alert to cardiovascular disease, and early diagnosis and treatment are recommended.
