The role of dental calcium hydroxide

Dental calcium hydroxide has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, and can promote the formation of restorative dentin, which can be used for indirect pulp capping, root canal filling and apical induction molding.
1. Indirect pulp capping: When tooth decay is close to the pulp cavity, calcium hydroxide can be chosen for indirect pulp capping to protect pulp vitality as much as possible.
2. Root canal sealing and filling: Calcium hydroxide is used to seal the root canal during root canal treatment, which can play an anti-inflammatory role; calcium hydroxide is used to fill the root canal, which can make the apical part of the tooth to appear new dentin, and continue to anti-inflammatory in the root canal.
3. Apical induction molding: Calcium hydroxide is the drug of choice to induce apical formation, which can promote the complete development of the apical foramen in young permanent teeth with underdeveloped apical foramen.
Calcium hydroxide should not be used blindly, and it is better to choose a reasonable way of medication under the guidance of a doctor.
