Best time for hernia surgery in girls

If a hernia is found in a child older than 2 years of age, it should be treated early and the best time to treat it is between 3 and 6 years of age; if a hernia is found within 1-2 years of age, it can be treated conservatively. Hernia refers to the formation of abdominal organs protruding from the body surface through a defect in the inguinal region. For children within 1-2 years of age, they can be treated conservatively, such as with a hernia brace or hernia belt, because the child is small. Children older than 2 years old with a hernia should be detected and treated early to effectively reduce the recurrence rate. Hernia repair in young children is mainly single-port laparoscopic repair, etc. Once an incarcerated hernia occurs, emergency surgical treatment should be taken promptly to avoid serious complications such as peritonitis and intestinal necrosis, which can seriously increase the difficulty of surgery and increase the risk to the child. Parents should pay attention to their children’s hernia and give them easy-to-digest food with coarse fiber to avoid constipation, as well as early detection and corresponding measures.
