Initial treatment of cervical cancer

1.Surgery: If the cancer is still in stage I or IIA, surgical removal of any tissues containing cancer cells and tissues prone to metastasis is usually recommended for the treatment of cervical cancer. 2.Radiotherapy: including external radiation therapy and intracavitary radiation therapy. External radiation therapy refers to the use of high-energy X-ray to kill cancer cells in the target area, and can also be used to kill subclinical lesions remaining after surgery. Intracavitary radiation therapy, also called brachytherapy, refers to the insertion of radiation source into the tumor location in the body to kill cancer cells. 3.Chemotherapy:Chemotherapy is the action of drugs on the cancerous parts of the body. If the cervical cancer cells have spread to other organs or there are risk factors of spreading to other organs, chemotherapy is needed in combination. In addition, chemotherapy can be given at the same time as radiotherapy to increase the sensitivity of radiotherapy.
