Effects and Indications of Da Sheng Di

Da Sheng Di, also known as Sheng Di Huang, has the effects of nourishing yin and promoting the production of fluid, cooling the blood and clearing heat, and can be used in the treatment of diseases such as deficiency of yin and fluid, and heat penetrating into the camp and blood (the degree of invasion of heat into the human body is deep and the symptoms are more severe).
Sheng Di Huang is attributed to the kidney, liver and heart meridians. It has the effects of clearing heat and cooling blood, nourishing yin and generating fluid. It is used in treating heat entering the camp and blood, warm poisonous spots (spots and plaques appearing on the skin due to the invasion of warm-heat poisonous evil into the human body), epistaxis, heat diseases that injure Yin, tongue with reddish-red color and thirst, constipation due to injury of body fluids, fever due to deficiency of Yin, bone vaporization and laborious heat, and thirst due to internal heat (fever accompanied by symptoms of overeating and excessive drinking and urination).
Sheng Di Huang should not be used for those with spleen deficiency, dampness stagnation, and loose stools (scanty and unformed feces), as it is anti-veratrum. Adverse effects have not been recorded in the Pharmacopoeia.
