Reasons for waking up with swollen hands

If the patient’s hands are swollen when waking up, the following factors should be taken into consideration: firstly, the peripheral circulation disorder should be considered, such as the patient’s peripheral neuritis or peripheral circulatory hypoplasia, which will all happen when waking up with swollen hands. Secondly, for the factors of infection, for example, patients are prone to bacterial, viral, and especially fungal infections in their hands, in the case of the above mentioned infections, redness, swelling, heat and pain, hand swelling, and joint dysfunction can also be induced by the infections. Then, connective tissue disease or rheumatoid immune disease, also will appear hand swelling, for example, rheumatoid arthritis will wake up in the morning, the hands appear obvious swelling accompanied by morning stiffness and so on. Finally, patients with hypothyroidism may also wake up with swollen hands.
