Does tonsil surgery hurt?

Tonsil surgery is a routine surgery in ENT. Currently, in most cases, tonsillectomy is performed under intravenous general anesthesia, so patients do not experience any painful discomfort during the procedure. After the surgery, as the anesthetic drug gradually wears off, a certain degree of throat pain and discomfort may gradually appear. The degree of pain varies from patient to patient, and in younger children, there may be no pain or discomfort after surgery. Some patients may experience less pain in the throat after surgery, which may have little effect on normal speech and swallowing, but some patients may experience more pronounced pain in the throat, which may make it difficult to swallow. In this case, pain medication can be used to improve the symptoms. After 2-3 weeks, as the surgical wound gradually recovers, the pain symptoms will gradually decrease and disappear completely.
