Spleen thickness of 41mm is serious

Spleen thickness of 41 mm is not considered serious and belongs to mild splenomegaly. The normal thickness of the spleen is 30~40mm, men’s spleen thickness is less than 40mm, women’s spleen thickness is less than 35 mm. 41mm spleen thickness is splenomegaly, but not much more than the normal value, which belongs to mild splenomegaly. Under normal circumstances, the spleen cannot be palpated from outside the body, but when the spleen is enlarged, it can be palpated in the supine and lateral positions. Splenic thickness of 41 mm may be physiologic, and if asymptomatic, it should be rechecked regularly. Pathological causes include infectious splenomegaly, schistosomiasis, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis and hematologic disorders, which are more serious. In addition, physical causes such as exercise and fever can also cause splenomegaly. It is recommended that the patient under the guidance of the doctor to further improve the examination, to clarify the cause of the disease, according to the different causes of treatment or dynamic observation.
