What are the Disadvantages of Semi-Femtosecond Surgery

The disadvantages of hemi-femtosecond surgery are dry eye, refractive regression, and over or under correction. 1. Dry eye: When cutting corneal tissues, semi-femtosecond surgery may cause damage to the inner corneal nerves, resulting in dry eye after surgery, leading to discomfort such as astringency and dryness of the eyes. 2. Refractive regression: After surgery, a few patients may experience refractive regression, i.e. myopia recurrence after surgery, which is related to long-term near vision after surgery. 3. Over- or under-correction: Over- or under-correction is the most common symptom of surgery, mainly due to a variety of factors such as inaccurate preoperative examination or operator’s operating habits. Myopia patients need to go to a regular hospital, consult with a doctor and choose the appropriate surgical method to avoid serious consequences, while postoperative care should be in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
