Painful Diarrhea Essential Formula is a conciliatory agent. In this formula, Atractylodes macrocephala strengthens the spleen and enhances qi, drying dampness and stopping diarrhea; Paeonia lactiflora nourishes blood and softens the liver, easing the urgency and relieving pain (relieving urgent pain); Pericarpium Citriodermum dries dampness and regulates qi, awakens the spleen and harmonizes the stomach (strengthening the spleen and enriching the qi, harmonizing the stomach to eliminate food); and Fenpang diaphragm relieves the liver of melancholy and dampness and stops diarrhea. It is mainly used for treating spleen deficiency and liver exuberance syndrome, commonly associated with loss of appetite, dyspepsia, sogginess in the intestines, abdominal pain and diarrhea, relief of abdominal pain after diarrhea, distension and stuffiness in the chest and ribs, and irritability.
