Is otolithosis a serious condition

Otolithiasis, i.e. benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, is not a serious condition as it usually has a good clinical outcome with regular treatment. Patients with otolithiasis can take otolith repositioning treatment, medication, and surgery to relieve symptoms.
The cause of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is not clear, and it is considered to be caused by changes in hormone levels in the body and aging. Patients may experience transient vertigo with nystagmus, hearing loss, and ear stuffiness. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is self-limiting, and some patients may recover spontaneously after a few days or months, so it is not a serious disease.
Patients with otolithiasis are preferred to be treated with repositioning, which can be done with vestibular rehabilitation to improve vestibular adaptive function. In addition, patients can also use betahistine, ginkgo biloba extract tablets and other drugs to improve the microcirculation of the inner ear under the guidance of the doctor. Surgery is considered for patients with recurrent prolonged symptoms.
Although benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is not a serious disease, patients may have recurring symptoms, and it is recommended that they seek medical attention in a timely manner and follow the doctor’s instructions for regular treatment.
