Atropine eye ointment for dilated pupils precautions

1. For children under 12 years of age, atropine eye ointment is usually used to dilate the pupil during optometry, three times a day for three days. When applying the medication, gently turn over the lower eyelid and place half a rice-grain-sized amount on the conjunctival surface of the outer corner of the eye. The slight redness of the face that occurs after medication is usually relieved by itself in 1-2 hours, which is normal due to the absorption of atropine throughout the body. This is normal and can be partially relieved by gently pressing the root of the nose for 2-3 minutes and drinking more plain water. 2. Difficulty in reading at close range within 3 weeks after pupil dilatation can be partially relieved by wearing 300-degree presbyopic glasses, and wearing sunglasses to avoid bright light during outdoor activities. 3.Dilated pupil examination is a common examination in children’s ophthalmology, except for the inconvenience it brings, it will not cause any harm to the eyes, and if necessary, it is possible to have continuous dilated pupils in the near future.
