Common medications after coronary artery stenting

Nowadays, with the development of medical treatment, a large proportion of patients suffering from coronary atherosclerotic heart disease can undergo minimally invasive treatment. Coronary stents are metal foreign bodies, which are prone to thrombosis, and two kinds of anti-thrombotic (anti-platelet) drugs should be used in combination after stenting. 1.Aspirin: 75-100 mg/day 2.Clopidogrel: 75 mg/day These two drugs should be used in combination for 1 year. After one year, clopidogrel can be stopped. Aspirin is adhered to year-round. Statins stabilize or reverse atherosclerotic plaques and inhibit the reduction of cholesterol synthesis by the liver. The liver is the main organ of cholesterol synthesis in the body. Statins are not liver poisons. A small number of patients may experience a transient increase in liver enzymes after taking a statin, such as exceeding three times the upper limit of normal liver enzymes, and the drug may be suspended. After the liver enzyme levels have returned to normal, the statin should be changed to a lower dose. Statins may cause weakness and myalgia. If these symptoms occur after taking the drug, seek medical advice. Efficacy target for statin use: lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) to below 1.8 mmol/L. After reaching the target value, do not stop the drug and generally do not reduce the dose. Lowering the bad cholesterol can, firstly, reduce the reoccurrence of atherosclerosis in the stent; and secondly, prevent or stabilize/reverse atherosclerosis in other coronary artery branches.
