How to treat rectal edema

Rectal edema may be caused by rectal inflammation, rectal contusion, rectal cancer, etc. It can be treated accordingly under doctor’s guidance and according to the cause. 1. Rectal inflammation: due to proctitis, Crohn’s disease and other diseases, the erosion of pathogens and toxin reaction make the rectum irritated, thus causing rectal edema. It can be effectively relieved by taking oral antibiotic drugs such as levofloxacin tablets, cefaclor, etc.; or taking drugs such as sulfasalazine, azathioprine, etc., to regulate the immune system and improve the symptoms. 2. Rectal contusion: If the rectum is scratched by a foreign body, it can also lead to symptoms of congestion and edema of the rectal mucosa. It can be treated by intravenous antibiotics, such as levofloxacin, cefuroxime and other anti-infective treatment to prevent infection; and it can be treated with intravenous nutrition to reduce the production of feces, so as to reduce the stimulation of the damaged area. 3. Rectal cancer: it will stimulate the rectal mucosa or rectal wall and cause edema. The patient can go to the hospital for tumor resection, and be treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy (e.g. 5-FU, mitomycin, etc.) after the operation. Patients with rectal edema should go to regular hospitals in time and follow the doctor’s instructions to be treated accordingly.
