What is MSD117?

MSD117 is simvastatin tablets, a lipid-lowering drug. Simvastatin tablets are used in the treatment of heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, and combined hypercholesterolemia in coronary artery disease, and are also used to lower elevated triglycerides, total cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and LDL cholesterol. Simvastatin tablets can reduce the concentration of LDL cholesterol, induce LDL receptors, cause cholesterol reduction, and increase the catabolism of LDL cholesterol, thus reducing the concentration of normal and elevated LDL cholesterol. In addition, simvastatin tablets may increase HDL cholesterol concentrations as well as lower plasma triglycerides. Common adverse reactions to simvastatin tablets include nausea, diarrhea, pruritus, alopecia, dizziness, and rash. Simvastatin tablets are contraindicated in individuals who are hypersensitive to them, and in pregnant and lactating women. In addition, simvastatin tablets carry certain risks and should be taken under the supervision of a specialist.
