Serial: Second baby on the way – women over 40 think twice before they go

In the last year or two, I have noticed that more and more pregnant women are becoming pregnant again. Some of them are happy to come back from previous health care, and sometimes they bring their first baby. The most interesting answer was: younger sibling, younger sibling. It was a great joy! The gradual adjustment of the national population policy, coupled with the improvement of living standards, family plans will be re-planned. There is a childish voice calling out in the dark: Mom, Dad, brother (sister) here I come. In fact, the start of a new plan should still be well thought out, after all, it is a big matter of reorganization of family members and importation of additional children. Today I will talk about the issues related to the second child birth from the perspective of obstetricians and gynecologists. Chen Qian, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Peking University First Hospital, should we have another baby or not? The timing of pregnancy is not a big issue for young women, as long as they consider the overall family plan and choose the right time for pregnancy. I’m just a little worried for older women. I have seen several pregnant women in their 40s or even 45-46 years old who are pregnant again, and their older children are already teenagers or even in college. The reason for choosing to conceive again is that it is not easy to adjust the policy, so I want one if I can, but when I look at the gray hairs on their temples, I am a little worried. If you are older, it is not an easy task to raise a new life. Do the math, if you have a baby at the age of 45, you will be nearly 60 years old when your child goes to high school, and your older children will have already started their families and careers, and the couple’s work careers will gradually come to an end.
