Gastroscopy can detect GERD. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a condition that can be diagnosed by means of a gastroscopy. By using a fiberoptic catheter with an attached endoscope to view the upper gastrointestinal tract, an initial diagnosis can be made quickly. However, gastroscopy can only be used to diagnose reflux esophagitis, which is one of the major types of GERD, and cannot accurately diagnose GERD that does not have typical esophageal mucosal changes under endoscopy. Clinically, the diagnosis of GERD can also be made by combining 24-hour PH/impedance measurement of the esophagus with barium esophagography, etc. 24-hour impedance monitoring can determine whether it is gas reflux, liquid reflux, or mixed reflux. Barium esophagography can rule out serious conditions such as esophageal bleeding and perforation. It is recommended that GERD patients go to the hospital as soon as possible, and the doctor will make individualized diagnosis and treatment plan according to the specific condition, so as not to delay the condition.
