How is advanced stomach cancer detected

When advanced gastric cancer is suspected, the diagnosis is usually confirmed by taking medical history and performing physical examination, blood test, gastroscopy, biopsy pathology, X-ray examination, CT scan and other tests.
1. Advanced gastric cancer or may present with discomfort or pain in the abdomen or mid-abdomen, or even black stool, vomiting or vomiting blood, difficulty in swallowing and other symptoms.
2. Gastroscopy and pathological biopsy: Gastroscopy is the first and foremost means of examination and confirmation of diagnosis. If abnormalities are seen in gastroscopy, a small piece of tissue is taken out from the stomach and observed under the microscope to see if there are cancer cells, which is also commonly known as pathological examination.
3. Blood test: The main function of this test is that it can help the doctor to know whether the patient is anemic or not, and whether the tumor markers are elevated or not.
4. CT scan: the main function of this kind of examination is that it can show the shape of the stomach and the surrounding structures in the abdominal cavity, which can help to know whether the tumor is metastatic or not.
5. X-ray examination: mainly for barium meal examination, used for those who can not perform gastroscopy, but can not take biopsy pathology to confirm the diagnosis.
6. Other tests: if metastasis is suspected, more imaging tests, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), bone ECT, PET-CT, etc., may be conducted.
It is recommended to consult doctor in time, improve examination under doctor’s guidance and cooperate with treatment in order to reduce pain and prolong survival in advanced stage of gastric cancer.
