What is stage 1 rectal cancer?

Stage 1 rectal cancer refers to T1-2N0M0, i.e., the tumor invades the submucosa or intrinsic muscular layer, there is no regional lymph node metastasis, and there is no distant metastasis. In clinic, the prognosis of stage 1 rectal cancer surgery is better, and the five-year survival rate can be greater than 90%. Rectal cancer is one of the common digestive tract tumors, and the proportion of rectal cancer in young people (<30 years old) in China is high, about 10%-15%. The general types of rectal cancer include ulcerative, infiltrative and bulging types, among which ulcerative is the most common, accounting for more than 50% of rectal cancer patients. However, ulcerative rectal cancer is less differentiated and lymph node metastasis is earlier. When patients have symptoms related to rectal cancer, it is recommended to go to hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
