Is gastric resection recommended for submucosal cancer?

Whether gastric resection is recommended for submucosal gastric carcinoma depends on the patient’s condition. If the scope of cancer is small and there is no lymph node metastasis, it can be treated by endoscopic submucosal dissection, while gastric resection is recommended if the lesion is large. Patients with gastric submucosal carcinoma are mainly treated by surgery, and its surgical methods depend on the patient’s condition, mainly including endoscopic submucosal dissection and surgical gastrectomy. In case of early gastric cancer with small extent, diameter less than 3 cm, infiltration depth less than 500 μm and no lymph node metastasis, endoscopic submucosal dissection can be considered to avoid gastric resection. If the cancer is large in scope and without metastasis, radical gastrectomy can be performed; if the patient is accompanied by distant metastasis, palliative gastrectomy can be performed. Patients with gastric submucosal carcinoma are recommended to seek medical treatment in time and receive treatment actively to avoid delaying the condition.
